It’s official, it’s happening, here it comes; it’s go time… etc. ‘n’ shit…
Alright, so we’ve heard “Berzerk” in rotation for a while now, we all have our opinions of it (though the critics seem oddly undecided)… and whilst a good majority of us are at best slightly confused by it and can’t quite make up our minds on it, I think our feelings on the visual clips we’ve seen so far, is far more clear. I think since seeing those first sneak-peak trailers that Em first released along with audio snippets… we were all quite hyped-up by the slick and artistic visual style this time.
Well, here’s a longer video teaser for “Berzerk” released hours ago during an NFL match on ESPN:
What did you think? Personally I think that video looks majorly fucking awesome.
What I particularly like about this footage so far is… there appears to be a really consistent… visual style to this. Although Em’s older videos were cool and sometimes entertaining, I don’t really think they had much of a hardened aesthetic to them, not in this way. This feels quite fresh and crafted.
The video for “Berzerk” definitely seems like some sweat has been poured (yuck?) in to the crafting and ‘feel’ of the visual, which may be carried across the other videos, and hopefully the whole album, to give it a consistent and cohesive result. This is most likely a big reason for Rick Rubin’s involvement also.
Em also says in the interview that The Marshall Mathers LP 2 is a ‘revisit’ to the first MMLP, which is encouraging in the sense of… it might mean he truly has tried to recapture the themes or attitude in a new light, as apposed to this just being a pointlessly titled ‘sequel’ for the sake of effect.
The full music video for “Berzerk” will be posted on Monday (noon, US Eastern) on VEVO by the way.
